Dear Parent/Carer

RE: Geography Fieldwork Trip to Hornsea

In order to meet the requirements of the 9-1 AQA GCSE Geography course, your child is required to take part in a fieldtrip to a physical environment. Therefore, they will be visiting Hornsea, Yorkshire, on 12 September 2019.

Students will be leave Somercotes Academy at 9:00am and will not return to the Academy until 4:30pm. All students will be required to make their own way home from the Academy following this visit.

Due to the nature of the work undertaken on this visit students need to wear sensible outdoor clothing and footwear. It is also strongly advised that all students bring warm and waterproof clothing in case of adverse weather. Despite not being required to wear Academy uniform, it is still expected that Academy rules are followed, e.g. no make-up, jewellery or mobile phones as stated in the Academy planner.

Students will require a packed lunch as there will be no opportunity to purchase food on the trip. Students who receive a free school meal will be provided with a packed lunch for the visit.

Please return the attached consent form and confirm how your child will get home from school upon return to the Academy. Reply slips should be handed to Mr Thompson by the deadline of Wednesday 24 July 2019.

Yours faithfully

Mr O Thompson
