Somercotes Academy has won a Champion School Bronze Award for going above and beyond its duty to encourage students to take part in the National Citizen Service.
NCS is a voluntary personal and social development programme for 15–17-year-olds in England and Northern Ireland, funded largely by money from the UK Government.
Thousands of children take part in the programme each year, including a number from Somercotes. The award was presented at an Awards Evening in Leicester.
