Sixty five students from Somercotes Academy will have their work published after taking part in a national writing competition.

‘Young Writers’ required the students to come up with a 100-word story on the concept of being trapped. Their stories were so successful that a large majority of students have received certificates and will now be featured in an anthology to celebrate their talents.

English Teacher Molly Pugh said: “We are very proud of our students for their success in this short story competition. This is a huge achievement, and one we will continue to build on in the future.”
