Information on Dorado:
Our constellation represents a large predatory fish that was named Dorado by Dutch explorers. It contains most of the large Magellanic Cloud, which is a neighbour galaxy to the Milky Way.
Dorado House comprises of five House groups, each with a selection of students from across the five year groups. This helps to encourage all of the different year groups to mix, and certainly helps our new starters to settle into the Academy.
Dorado students are very forthcoming to participate in all Interhouse events. A variety of competitions are held throughout the year to appeal to a diverse range of students, these include: musical, sporting and academic competitions. Dorado House is outstandingly well represented and those students who do participate, take great pride in representing their House. Dorado students demonstrate exceptional spirit, dedication and drive to achieving their best, both individually and as a team. Miss Manners is incredibly proud of all students who participate in any Interhouse events.
In 2017-2018, Dorado won the following events: History, R.E., Languages Spelling Bee, Netball, Art, Music, Quiz, Positive Referrals, Cross-country and Sports Day! Dorado students excelled themselves this year and were crowned overall Interhouse champions for 2017 – 2018!
Photographs are shown below of many Dorado students who participated in Sports Day and Interhouse Netball 2017- 2018.
As the interest and enthusiasm for the forthcoming competitions continues to grow, Dorado hopes to build on these victories in 2018-2019 and defend their overall title!
Students are appointed to senior positions of importance within the House. This year we have a tremendous array of hardworking and diligent individuals who will be representing their House with distinction.
Dorado has selected the following Form Prefects. These are Year 11 students who lead by example. These students work alongside Miss Manners and their House tutors to ensure the welfare of those in their form group.
The Form Prefects for 2018/2019 are:
Two talented sporting students have been selected as 'Sports Captains'. These students help in the organisation of teams prior to and during Interhouse sporting competitions. Due to the high calibre of candidates for Sports Captain this year, we have again decided to choose two further talented students to be 'Vice Sports Captains' who are able to assist the Sports Captains.
The Dorado Sports Captains and Vice Captains for 2018/2019 are:
Dorado believes it is important to take into account the views of all our students. Therefore, a House representative from each House group share any student issues at regular House Council meetings. The most significant issues are taken forward for further consideration and changes have been shown to make a considerable difference to student's life at Tollbar Academy.
