Dear Parent/Carer

RE: Geography Field Trips 2018

Your child is currently sitting the AQA GCSE Geography 9 – 1 course. As part of this course, each student is required to complete two compulsory pieces of fieldwork in contrasting environments. Both pieces of fieldwork will be assessed in the final examinations in the summer of 2019 and together will contribute 30% of their final grade. In order to meet the demands of the course, all Year 10 Geography students will be visiting Hull on Monday 18 June 2018. A further trip to Hornsea will take place shortly after. Details of the Hornsea trip will be issued in a separate letter.

The trip to Hull will be leaving Somercotes Academy at 9:00am and will e back to the Academy by 3:00pm. This means that the student's usual method of transport to and from the Academy will not be affected.

Additionally, students will be required to follow the Academy dress code. This includes wearing full Academy uniform, no make-up and normal sensible footwear. It is recommended that all students bring a waterproof coat in case of adverse weather. Furthermore, students will require a packed-lunch as there will be o opportunity to purchase anything on the trip.

Please return the consent form and medical form to Mr Thompson by Wednesday 23 May.

Yours sincerely
